With holiday gatherings just around the corner, it’s important to protect yourself and your loved ones by getting an updated COVID-19 booster and a flu shot.
To better protect against omicron variants, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has authorized the updated COVID-19 booster vaccine for children 5 and up. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) also recommends the updated booster vaccine at least 2 months after the 2-dose primary series or previous booster for:
- Pfizer: People 5 and older
- Moderna: People 6 and older
With the FDA’s authorization of the updated COVID-19 booster for younger children, the original Pfizer and Moderna boosters are no longer authorized for any age group. There are currently no authorized boosters for children younger than 5.
